It’s not the most inspirational name for a hike “Bowen Road” - until I turned up there I had assumed it was just walking along the footpath on a normal street. Turns out its actually a pretty awesome city hike. Starting from Wan Chai (kind of near work) it starts with a steep climb after which you find yourself in that weird zone between huge city and quiet hillside. Walking along the paved ‘hiking’ path you have greenery, valleys and slopes opening up on your left and the sprawling centre of Hong Kong on your right. I really love the Peak Hike for the same reason, you get a totally different perspective on the city compared to daily life in the mix of it, and there is something beautiful about a collection of buildings with such density. Once you make it up the starting hill its a pretty chilled hike, taking it at an easy pace, stopping for photos and to snoop closer at some of the buildings you are alongside makes for a nice couple of hours. Also randomly I discovered that the Consulate of the Seychelles is located with its front door (security guard and all) directly off this hiking trail, admittedly near the end where there is a park and parking lot but still, it was quite an unexpected discovery!

I have spent more time discovering central lately, enjoying finding new street art and wandering the stairs and alleyways. I also found myself a couple of times lately in the laid back suburb of Tai Hang, with more art for the collection, some quirky buildings and great restaurants, bars and cafes. Enjoy the art…
