eatigo
Food makes us happy. There are no two ways about it. This is one of the really fun parts about Hong Kong, you can eat all hours of the day at the most massive range of cuisines, prices and locations. This can also be a wee bit overwhelming, especially while trying to stay budget friendly while we get to grips with the currency and living costs. We've recently gotten this great app 'eatigo' which has a bunch of restaurants offering discounts at certain times of day, up to 50% off sometimes.
Our first adventure with eatigo took us to a Mexican bar (Mezcalito) on the 27th floor of a pretty random building, but stepping off the elevator to laid-back seating and epic city views was a great surprise! Unfortunately, the small bar snacks menu we'd planned to demolish for dinner was made even smaller with a couple of items sold out so we were down to popcorn chicken and fries! Both of which were delicious, and at half price (also for drinks) plus a great location, there were no complaints from us!
'Rummin tings' is a lively Caribbean bar which also enticed us with 50% off. The food was straight up yum, so much so that I didn't even take a photo... too busy eating. Spicy spinach dip with cassava chips, BBQ corn and some island style burgers. Would definitely eat there again.
Pilot training is at rather strange times of day and that combined with unemployed life means we eat meals at some strange times of the day. One day we were hungry at 3 pm and found the local English pub was on eatigo. We had an excellent Indian curry (tried paneer for the first time, um where has this been all my life?) and a burger, both were good big meals and the naan bread particularly yum. It's normally on the expensive side but with eatigo, totally reasonable.
These won't be our last eatigo missions, it's a good way to find new places and save some money (especially if you're happy eating at a weird time of day).
