hk 7s

The Hong Kong sevens is one of the highlights of the sporting calendar here AND was on a 3 day weekend, I really should have gotten tickets but the price tags freaked me out. So instead we headed to the public viewing zone on the first day of play, with a couple of friends to check it all out. The area is literally across the road from the stadium so you get a pretty sweet sense of the vibes … it definitley made me think maybe the price tag would be worth it, even just for one day next year! Gorgeous hot autumn weather had us lathering on the sunscreen and downing cool beverages while we patiently waited for oiur highlght games - France (our friends) and NZ (duh) which were closer to the end of the night. The party atmosphere ramped up as the night went on and then spilled over when the last game finished and the stadium emptied out in search of beer and dancing. They replaced the big screen games with music and lights and things kicked off (pun intended), so we stayed for a bit and then for an entirely unknown reason headed for a game of bowling, followed by pizza to end the night. It was fun to be a little bit a part of and I can see why people love it so much, seemed like a great atmosphere in the stadium with some awesome costumes rolling round too!

I just set it up so you can get an email when I post something new, so if you want to get an email when I add a new blog post you can sign up here :)
