This week I finally hauled myself up Victoria Peak, this is probably one of the main tourist attractions if you go by the guidebooks (it’s number 5 on TripAdvisor) but I wasn’t in any rush. We tried to go up via tram the first time we were here on a stopover and the queue was next level long so we bailed. Knowing that I wasn’t overly keen to go stand in the queue so it hadn’t really made it to the top of my list. Then I heard from some girls at work that it’s only about 30mins to walk up… that’s more like it! It’s actually a bit of a thing they used to do before work sometimes so I nudged them into reviving the tradition and now Wednesday mornings at 7am we meet and start the day by “hiking” up the peak (I have to put hiking in quotes because the path is paved all the way up so it doesn’t quite feel like a hike). It’s an excellent way to start the day. In true Hong Kong style when you get to the top there is a mall (that’s where the tram arrives at) and so we grab a taxi to work from there. The walk itself though is cool, it’s mainly in and amongst trees with occasional view peeps on the way up and then epic views from the top…

Pilot life this week involved no flying but did result in a lovely DIY-ed TV stand and I had the usual TGIF feeling after work, so we headed out for beers and burgers. We are still making our way around all the restaurants in Kennedy Town and this time ended up at the aptly named Beeger. Beer selection was impressively huge and I ended up with some crazy sour grapefruit beer which was super refreshing. I could go full on beer snob here to talk about how it paired with my pumpkin burger but I won’t, cos I have no idea. But the beer was good, the burger was good, the sweet potatoe fries were excellent and the view over the water also rather lovely.

We decided to top it off with dessert so wandered around the corner to a pumping little dessert restaurant. After squishing ourselves inbetween two other couples at a wee table, some tough decisions were made (it’s an extensive menu) and … voila. The weekend is here.
