I’ve seen it twice now. The first time at a safe-feeling distance off to the side and below the path. The second time ON the path that I was walking on, I have no idea if this thing is dangerous, let alone what it even actually is which meant I couldn’t even try and google it. I decided just to briskly walk past while video-ing, thinking if it attacks me at least the video might be entertaining/useful to those wondering what happened. Turns out it didn’t give a damn and I passed without incident. Here it is in case anyone might know what it is…

It was an odd morning on the peak as I had also seen a very Hawaiian looking flower just moments before:

We had the honor of taking a couple of friends on their first Hong Kong hike, for one of them their first hike ever. We left from behind our place and started with these brutal stairs as a nice introduction. We headed all the way up the peak just following our nose and made it up there nice and quietly enjoying ourselves, only to collide with the thousands of tram tourists at the mall. It wasn’t even nice weather or a particularly clear view and the place was still heaving. The way down was a little more adventurous as we found ourselves not quite lost but definitely unsure of where we were, it meant we got onto some actual hiking (i.e. unpaved) trails which was nice and also got a really cool view of a graveyard we had spotted once from our junk boat ride.
