Quarantine Day 2

Quarantine Day 2

Today flew by pretty quick actually. Woke up with the sun as there aren’t full curtains but that’s ok for a morning person. I didn’t sleep super well on ye-olde-wooden-block so I WhatsApp-ed the people here and asked for a mattress (and something to clean the floor with). They answered immediately, said there is limited mattress supply but they could arrange two blankets instead, less than an hour later 2 blankets and a bucket and a mop turned up outside the door - I was super impressed. It felt a bit like Christmas today with the amount of deliveries, in addition to the blankets I also got:

  • a newspaper (sadly my Cantonese is non existent)

  • a fresh “chemical waste” bag which is where we have to put all our rubbish (then do it up with a cable tie and leave it outside the door)

  • breakfast (cold dim sum… I ate my own porridge I bought with me instead)

  • lunch (rice, veges, chicken + some weird looking thing - it was pretty yum)

  • a big screen to plug my laptop into so I can work better from here (thank you HR team!) + a very kind “thinking of you card”

  • dinner (rice, veges, mystery meat, eggy-seafood thing - I ate the rice and veges)

So yea food is for sure do-able, once supplemented with my snack supplies. I heard its from the same place as hospital food, not sure if that is true. I don’t start getting what I ordered yesterday until they have had a few days to process it, so I might have to wait a bit until I start on the Garlic Bread and Cheese Sausages for breakfast.

I had a visit from a medical person today too, she explained I needed to fill in a certain form they had given me so I am ready to show it to a Doctor who, at some point soon, will come and see me. It just asks for Name, Age, Gender, ID number then has tick boxes for me to indicate any symptoms (still none happily). The timing was right in the middle of a video call I was on for work so my team got to see me answer the door to a person in full protective kit… think it made the meeting a bit more interesting! I also have to take and record my temperature twice a day and if it’s over 37 I have to call someone, so far so good.

My better half got his blood test results back, apparently he has quite a low virus count so they think he has had it for longer than they originally thought. There is a good chance that the stomach bug he thought he had last week was actually his bout of coronavirus symptoms, the timing seems to make sense in relation to where he is at now. He is not expected to get re-tested again for a couple of days. He isn’t bored or lonely yet, he’s been having some chats with his room buddy, playing more video games (finished a whole one already) and chatting with friends. He seems super well and upbeat which is great. Our kind friend delivered him a package today, with a sim-card wifi router, a towel (apparently not provided by the hospital), his Ab-Wheel and (because life is all about balance) … more biscuits.

As I wrap it up for the day - enjoy a fun gallery of… today’s deliveries:
