back to reality
Back to reality and started my new job! I was very happy to stick around Hong Kong for a couple of months to be honest but pretty quickly ended up heading to Bali for a work trip where I checked out Canggu for the first time, the beach was pretty disapointing, I think I’d always imagined Bali beaches to be much more picture perfect, but they tell me actually it’s all about the surf. The area was pretty influencer heavy / hipster vibes which meant a lot of pretty cafes and nice food but not really my sorta crowd. As a wimpy non-scooter driver I was stuck walking or in traffic which I think probably impacted my perception of the place too.
The winter weather was stunning so there was lots of hiking and beach days back in HK before I jumped on a plane to NZ for my mums 70th and a good friend’s wedding on NYE. I was sick half the time so it was a pretty chilled trip but always good to see all my people. Sent my godkids up in a small plane, caught a concert, rode on the new boardwalk, enjoyed the beach and partied like it was 2001 at the disco-vibes wedding party in coromandel!
