What a luxury to get to Switzerland in only one flight! It was so nice to be back and see all our favourite Swiss people, even if we only had a few days. We also snuck in some time in town appreciating the beautiful lake and snowy mountains, such a contrast to Hong Kong. Christmas was awesome with amazing food, carol sing-a-longs, bubbles and pressies, just so nice to spend the day with the family. Also crammed in as many catch-ups with friends as we could before Pilot schedules left me in Switzerland working for a couple days remotely before jumping on a train to meet in Paris for his next work layover. I had half a day to myself first and saw Chicago the musical in French with English sub-titles off to the side of the stage, a very cool show but hard to watch it properly and read the translations at the same time! We then had two full days in Paris on the company’s dime which was very cool, we hired a car one day and headed off to Chantilly and Senlis both of which were very pretty wee villages. The Chataeu Chantilly (of James Bond fame) had a really great audio tour and was a really worthwhile place to visit. We lucked out with a lunch recommendation from a French workmate of mine and ate ourselves to stuffed including Chantilly Cream and strawberries for dessert! Our final day was spent wandering around in Paris where we tried Aligot for the first time, my goodness that is some next level stodgey yum right there. Topped off an awesome week away with flying back to Hong Kong together, for the first time with him up front in the cockpit and me as a passenger, it was all very exciting. Especially when I got to move up to Business Class … wowsa the A350 has super nice business class seats, and the service, food etc. was amazing, was a lot of fun. When we landed I got to check out the cockpit and pilot rest area (just above Business Class, in a tiny little pod-like space) and we toasted to 2019 with the crew (seeing as we had flown through New Years Eve), I felt very spoiled indeed.
