Quarantine Day 7

Quarantine Day 7

Woop woop 1 week and 3 hours to go! I think a week from now I will be pacing the floor with my suitcase already packed waiting for my 11:59pm release…

I had a bit of a stupid situation with my temperature today. I have been taking it twice a day as required and writing it down, someone rings each day to ask me what my latest recording was and if I am feeling ok. I missed the call today as I was on a work call, they tried to call me three times within the space of about one minute. Then 30mins later my room phone rang and someone asked me for my phone number and then told me to answer it when they ring me, I tried (I think unsuccessfully) to explain that I am working and could they space their attempts out a bit in case they catch me on a work call.

Anyway, 5mins after that two guys turned up at the door to take my temperature in person. I had spent the morning with my hair wet and started to get a bit cold, but rather than dry my hair, I had taken the lazy person option of putting on a beanie and scarf to warm up. So when these guys turned up I had been sitting here in a beanie and scarf for a few hours and surprise surprise I had a “fever”. I tried to explain myself but don’t think it really got through and a few mins later I got called down to the doctors. After removing said beanie and scarf and walking down, my temperature was back to normal and the doctor asked me “so why are you here?"…. haha yea good times.

I do appreciate that they are trying to be super protective and look out for my health, and other people’s health, but sometimes it all feels a bit of a mess. The doctor was really nice, she thought I was worried and that was why I had gone to see her, she actually offered to test me tomorrow already for Coronavirus. I asked her “if it is negative will I get to go home?”, she said “no”, so I said, “no it’s ok I will wait until my 2-days-before-release test”.

The sun was out for a peep this morning so it was nice to see the hills. Lunch and dinner both had a sauce I liked, which makes the rice much more fun to eat. Finished the day with an awesome quiz night organized by a work colleague and my team even won! Less than 1,000 steps today but I did a tough workout this morning sent from a friend in NZ, so I think I will sneak to bed sans-steps (rebellious I know).

No major updates from the patient, he was absorbed in a video game the whole day, which I would usually find slightly insane, but now suddenly seems like a great way to spend a day. He was told he will be tested again “in a few days” so there won’t be much news on that front for a while. He still has no symptoms and feels well - which is the main thing through all of this!
