Woohoo! Our first visitor from NZ, finally the stop-over friendly location of Hong Kong paid off with a visit from a friend. I played Volleyball with her in Hamilton and on her way back from a Europe adventure we had her staying for a couple days. Sadly I had to work during the day but it was great to take her out in the evening and show her some cool HK sights. We started off at Wooloomooloo which is one part Australian Steak House and one part epic rooftop bar with amazing GnT’s. The view from there is simply spectacular and I think it is worth the drink prices! We then found ourselves in a Vegan restaurant serving versions of lots of the local classics, as I am not the biggest fan of the local meats this was a lot of fun. We were particularly impressed by the bbq “pork” which was crispy and flavourful, as well as the bbq “pork” buns which tasted like the real deal. We asked ourselves a couple of times if it was just a ruse and they were actually serving meat! NO idea what it was made of though…
We then rumbled through town on a ding-ding (tram) before climbing onto the Star Ferry to head across the harbour, always an awesome thing to do with the city lit up at night. We settled in on the waterfront with a couple of ciders and soaked in the skyline, perfect ending to a great HK evening.
