Turns out this covid thing ain’t going anywhere fast… “waves” are coming and going here, and restrictions are being added and removed a bit willy nilly to go with it. Travel doesn’t seem on the horizon any time soon with the strict quarantine here. Through it all though, we can always get outdoors - for which I am eternally grateful. Winter in HK is the perfect time to do so, not too hot, crystal clear days, sunny and mostly warm. We are also treating ourselves to mini staycations, arranging day trips, getting in plenty of hikes and finding our way to all the beaches. We’ve ticked off the tourist-classic 10,000 Buddhas, found more street art, been the only people in the movie theatre, discovered mini bedrooms along the harbourfront, taken cooking classes and even been served ice cream by a robot (the ultimate covid friendly move). Christmas was celebrated with friends, cheesy xmas songs, raclette , booze and silly jumpers. New Years was a pre-dawn walk to a very epic sunrise spot (just above Big Wave Bay) with Baileys Hot Chocolate, Croissants and Champagne to ring in 2021. Let’s hope it’s a step up on 2020.
