summer already
It’s June. Let that sink in for just a moment. Yup it’s now the 6th month of 2021.
Somehow today is the first day of summer. Although the heat arrived a few weeks ago, so we are already in the no-winner game of sweaty-humid-outside vs freezing-AC-inside. We’ve kept ourselves entertained so far in 2021 with more of the same exploring around the city and outdoors, but also by moving apartments. Just a couple of blocks up the road but with the very exciting addition of a rooftop. It was un-loved and in terrible condition (the roof itself) but thanks to a lack of flights and some forced vacation leave it’s now looking brilliant with a new coat of paint and awesome decking, next up is plants, a BBQ, and furniture. They say a change is as good as a holiday and I think it was just what we needed, considering a holiday is still not really viable. HK has made some changes in the quarantine-on-arrival requirements with the addition of vaccines in the mix, but it’s still a long and costly exercise to leave the country, so still feeling basically trapped here for the foreseeable.
May highlights:
house-pimping/sorting post moving in
a long weekend with birthday celebrations (gathered with 20+ friends on a beach at Lamma for a day of games, swimming, BBQ and beers), wake surfing, another ocean park visit, a staycation and our first try of a sensory deprivation tank aka floating
a “signing of the marriage certificate but not a wedding” celebrations with close friends and the associated “stag do” and “hens party” for good measure
April was full of:
house-packing / moving
a jam-packed Easter weekend of brunches, dinners, beaches, hikes, and a bar hop for good measure
the Hong Kong Trail!
March had:
visit to the outdoor cinema under the skyline
lots of hikes to prepare for the HK trail
birthday celebrations via dinner, ocean park and a champagne-fueled brunch followed by harbourside sunshine drinking (very spoiled)
Feb included:
helping two sets of friends move house (seems to be the trend)
5 amazing days away at a huge place on Lamma with friends, beaches, BBQ, rooftop sunsets, wine and walks. It was the most “on holiday” I have felt since I last left HK
Jan was
quiet dinners with friends
working my butt off with lots of legendary colleagues to launch the biggest project i’ve ever worked on
